As you continue to cook on your grill, it's important to stay on top of short and long term maintenance to make sure your recteq continues to run at peak performance. - A good rule of thumb is to always clean your firepot every 3-5 cooks. This should ALWAYS be done when the grill is completely cool.

Low-quality or old pellets may result in abnormal temperatures. If you haven't already, be sure to use premium 100% hardwood pellets. If your pellets are older than 6 months, clear out your hopper and replace with a fresh bag.

Air Flow – Proper air flow is one of the single most important factors in achieving high temperatures. Ensure that the RTD probe is not touching the wall. Make certain that if you are using a Sear Kit, that you are using it on the right-hand side of the grill. Using it on the left will cause interference with the RTD.
